Your feelings towards training and injury

The assessment may include movements specific to your chosen sport, such as a golf swing for example, if the pain or symptoms are only brought on at a particular moment and not frequently recreated in ‘normal’ life. You should attend your appointment dressed to move – sport/gym kit is suitable. You may be asked to expose the area by removing layers to assist with diagnosis.

You can expect to receive a home exercise programme to help support your Osteopathic treatment.

FAQS
WHAT SPECIALISTS DO YOU WORK WITH?
Tottenham Hale Osteopaths has close links with a number of sports injury specialists outside of our own field of expertise. This network includes consultants, podiatrists, sports physiotherapists, and sports therapists. This means that if we feel your symptoms would be better managed by a different specialism, you can easily be referred onwards.
DO I HAVE TO STOP TRAINING WHILE I HAVE TREATMENT?
Tottenham Hale Osteopaths will try, where possible, to avoid prolonged periods of inactivity or time away from your chosen sport. We appreciate sport isn’t just a sport. It is a coping strategy, social interaction, support for healthy lifestyle habits and, in some cases, a job. It means different things to different people, and missing out due to injury is frustrating whatever your goals. In many cases we can adapt or modify your training to enable you to participate in some form.

Our top tip is to approach your sports injury appointments and rehab with the same dedication you show toward your training.

WHAT TYPES OF SPORTS DO YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH?
Tottenham Hale Osteopaths has patients from a range of sporting backgrounds and our team are knowledgeable in many sports including:

– Running, including Marathon and Ultra Distance Runners
– Athletics/Track & Field
– Crossfit & Obstacle Course Racing
– Triathlon
– Swimming & Open Water Swimming
– Hockey
– Roller Derby
– Climbing
– Martial Arts
– Racquet Sports

We welcome sports people of any standard, from the weekend warrior to elite competitors.

SPORTS INJURIES IN CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS
Tottenham Hale Osteopaths have appointments available for children and teenagers who are struggling with sports injuries.

Many older children/teenagers are heavily involved in sport, committing many hours a week to training and competition. The clinic will provide a supportive environment to help your sporty teen navigate their pain and injury.

Our practitioners understand children are not simply ‘mini adults’; the treatment approach will be specifically tailored to the developmental stage of the individual.

All patients under 16 will require a parent or guardian to remain present throughout the entire consultation.

Our Approach

We let you tell your story. We ask a lot of questions. It's important to not only identify the source of your pain but also why you are experiencing it. At Tottenham Hale Osteopaths we recognise that in order to successfully overcome pain or injury there must be a partnership between patient and practitioner.

You can expect a treatment plan tailored to you delivered by a friendly, knowledgeable team.
